Kano is one of the most important cities in terms of the country’s history. The city was founded in the 9th century and attracts attention for its historic walls, some of which are still standing today. The city is also known for being one of the first major Muslim cities in West Africa. Kano today is the most important trading town in Northern West, Nigeria. Kano is a commercial center in sub-Saharan Africa and features many roads that link to other African cities.

The city was linked with the trans-Atlantic trade in 1911, acting as an important role in connecting African products with the world. Besides Kano’s trade routes, its salt, leather, cotton, and nut production is important to the Nigerian economy. Visitors can enjoy ancient relics and an interesting collection of arts and crafts at the Gidan Makama Museum Kano, which is located in a historical structure that is worth seeing itself. Notable for its historic walls and gates, the city also hosts religious holidays in the form of festivals. These festivals are of great importance in terms of regional tourism.
