Al-Kharj is a small city located 77 km south of the Riyadh province, Saudi Arabia. The city features two deep wells, around 500 m apart, named Ayun AlSeih. The two wells used to be filled with water to help meet the city’s water needs. However, since the wells are now empty they are surrounded by a fence for safety reasons. If you want to visit the area you should go during the day. The Al Kharj Zoo has a large park perfect for kids and many bird species. Al Kharj Zoo does not charge an entry fee for children under the age of 2 and is open to only women visitors one day out of the week; every other day it is open to everyone.
The city features great hotels for accommodation and the Hodaithi Shopping Mall for your shopping needs. Al-Kharj, which has an airport, can be explored by renting a car and you can visit the nearby towns of Riyadh and Dammam using the railway. Al-Kharj has a desert climate; throughout the year the city gets very little rainfall, and the driest month generally falls between May and September.
