Transportation to Airport from Dhaka City Center
Hazrat Shahjalal Intl. Airport
Since Dhaka is not a big city in terms of its surface area, it is very easy to use taxi, private car, rickshaw, bus and similar means of transportation in urban transportation or for travelling to the airport from the city center.
Bus
The names of the four main bus terminals in the city; Sayedabad bus terminal, Gulistan bus terminal, Gabtoli bus terminal and Mohakhali bus terminal. From these four terminals, there are direct bus services going to the airport. It is very cheap to use buses for travelling to the airport. It is only 5 Taka to take advantage of Dhaka buses. Throughout the city, the prices of bus tickets do not exceed 10 Taka.
Rickshaw
The most popular means of transportation in Dhaka, where more than 400.000 rickshaws offer transportation service, are rickshaws also called three-wheeled taxis. They are divided into two as auto-rickshaw and cycle-rickshaw. The three-wheeled taxis called cycle-rickshaw are generally used for sightseeing just like bicycles. Auto-rickshaws are much faster than the other and much cheaper than normal taxis.
You need to pay 30-50 Taka for travelling with cycle-rickshaw for 15 minutes. The auto-rickshaws run by the CNG company also work with taximeter and the fares start from 25 Taka. It is both practical and enjoyable to travel to Hazrat Shahjalal Airport from the city center by using an auto-rickshaw. Tempo-rickshaws also offer transportation service and they are bigger than auto-rickshaws.
Taxi
There are two types of taxis offering service in Dhaka and they have different fares. These are black and yellow taxis. The black taxis open their taximeters from 25 Taka. The yellow taxis are almost twice as expensive. With the taxi that you can get on in the city, you can get to Hazrat Shahjalal Airport in about 25-30 minutes. If you will prefer Airport Departure Taxi for your transportation, you will need to pay about 300 Taka for your transportation between the city center and Hazrat Shahjalal Airport.
Car Rental
It is possible to get to the airport from the city center in about 25-30 minutes by renting a car from one of the car rental companies that you can see almost in every part of the city. If you have an international driver’s license, you can rent a car by paying 3000 Taka for half-day use; you need to pay about 4500 Taka for full day use. You can get to Hazrat Shahjalal Airport by using Dhaka-Mymensingh highway (N3).

Hazrat Shahjalal Airport, which is the largest airport of Bangladesh, has a capacity of 15 million passengers per year. The airport is located in Kurmitola and 20 km north of the city center of the capital city Dhaka. Hazrat Shahjalal Airport, which is also known as Zia International Airport, has many facilities for passengers such as currency exchange, bank and ATMs, eating and drinking areas, tourist information offices and free internet access.
Transportation to Rijeka City Center from Airport

Rijeka city center is located about 25 kilometers from Rijeka Airport and the journey to the city center takes about 30 minutes by car and taxi. In front of the terminal in accordance with flight times, taxis, buses and rental cars are waiting ready which are some of the alternative vehicles offered to travelers who want to travel from Rijeka Airport to the city center. If your priority is to travel more economicly to the city center the best choice would be to travel by the buses which are arranged in accordance with flight times. On the other hand, if your priority is to travel more comfortable and where you can carry your belongings more easily than an economic vehicle, an alternative you may prefer is the taxis that are ready waiting in front of the terminal. Rental vehicles are waiting for travelers who want to stay in the city for a few days or to explore different centers in the vicinity of Rijeka.
Bus
If you choose the airport shuttle buses departing in front of the Rijeka Airport terminal, you can complete your journey a lot more affordablely compared to other vehicle options. Also the buses to the city travel at the same speed as taxis and rental cars. However if you use the bus you may still need to use a taxi or a different vehicle from the city center to your destination. The journey time of the 25-kilometer route from the airport to the city center by bus is between 30-35 minutes. The cost of the airport bus to the city center is only 20 Croatian kuna per passenger. Buses travel through places such as Opatija, Kraljevica, Rijeka, Omisalj and Crikvenica. If you want to travel from Rijeka to a different city nearby, you can take the airport bus to the terminal and then change to one of the local buses traveling to other cities. There is no extra charge for suitcases on buses and you can make your payment when you get onto the bus.
Rent a car
At Rijeka Airport you have the chance to rent a car by choosing from companies such as Sixt, Last Minute, Enterprise, ORYX and Thrifty. If you make a reservation before arriving in the city from a wide range of cars, from classic sedan to luxury vehicles, you can find your car ready and continue your journey without waiting. When you depart from Rijeka Airport, you can complete your journey to Rijeka city center in minutes not hours by following the directions to the center of the city. Please note that in Rijeka, as in many other cities you must have an internationally valid drivers license for car rental.
Taxi
Taxis await passengers at the taxi stop out front of Riijeka Airport, for those who do not prefer buses and rental cars when traveling from the airport to the city. Although the buses to the city are not so expensive, the taxis are usually found to be affordable and the price is worked out by a taximeter system. The fact that the city center is not too far away prevents the taxi journey in Rijeka to be expensive, but it is not as affordable as buses. If you cannot find a taxi in front of the terminal after you have landed, you can ask the airport information desk to call a taxi for you. If you need to travel further afield outside the city in Rijeka you can try to make a bargain in order to reduce the taxi fare or you can complete your journey by offering the driver a deal at a fixed rate.
Transfer Vehicles
Passengers traveling to Rijeka city center or a nearby residential area can also benefit from the transfer vehicles of private companies. Transfer vehicle private companies have vehicles for different capacity from 1 person to 6-8 persons and can be considered very economical for passengers traveling with a group of several people. If you are traveling alone, you can travel with these vehicles to reach different places outside of Rijeka. However for those who only want to reach the city center, it may be a more convenient choice to travel by taxi instead of transfer vehicles.
