About Cherkasy
Located in central Ukraine, Cherkasy is the administrative center of the Cherkasy District. The city played an important role in the country’s history, especially in the 13th and 14th centuries. It is also one of the oldest settlements in the region. The impact of the nearby Kolyma River creates a moderate climate; although it might get hot, the weather in general is quite mild. Winters are especially cold and snowy. As it is in many cities in Ukraine, Cherkasy features wide boulevards and streets. Among the most important sites to see are the Hill of Fame, famous for its statue, Cherkasy State Art Museum, the grand Cherkasy Music and Drama Theater, and the White Lotus Temple, known for its peaceful gardens.
Transportation to Cherkasy City Center from Airport
Cherkasy Intl. Airport
The Cherkasy International Airport is very close to the city center and the transportation is very easy. You can rent a car at the airport or take a taxi for a quick transportation. If you prefer to use public transport you can take the buses to the city center from the bus stop near the airport. Please note that the possibility that your hotel is providing airport shuttle service is very high in Cherkasy.
Car Rental
By renting a car at the airport you can have a comfortable transportation vehicle for your entire trip. It is possible to reach the city center in 10 - 15 minutes under normal traffic conditions with the car you rent.
Taxi
You can reach the city center in less than 15 minutes by taking a taxi from in front of the airport. Although the fare schedule is standard, you might negotiate with the driver before taking the taxi.
Bus
The bus stop is only a 5 minute walk away from the airport and buses leave very often. It takes less than half an hour to reach the city center. The ticket price is 3,00 UAH.
Hotel Services
Most hotels in Cherkasy offer transportation services to its guests. Please note that this service is based on a fee and must be booked in advance. Although the cost is generally higher, hotel services are more convenient and comfortable compared to other means of transportation.
