Transportation to Airport from Jakarta City Center

Halim Perdanakusuma Intl. Airport

Jakarta is the largest city and capital of Indonesia as well as the most populated city in Southeast Asia. Jakarta is Indonesia’s economic, cultural, and political center. The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is the main airport serving the city and its surroundings. The airport is located 20 km from downtown Jakarta. There aren’t many transportation alternatives to get to and from the airport and the city center. Certain hotels provide free shuttle transportation to and from the airport.

Private Car & Taxi

Public transportation in Indonesia is little to none and because of this there is incredibly bad traffic that you will inevitably find yourselves in. Taxis can be a bit complicated and unreliable. Taking a private car is the best option to get from the city center to the airport. Bus

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is the busiest airport in Indonesia, located 20 km from the city center. The airport is also the busiest airport in Southeast Asia. Soekarno Hatta Intl. Airport

Since there is no means of public transportation to be used for travelling to Soekarno International Airport from Jakarta city center, taxis are commonly preferred by visitors. You can also get to the airport by renting a car.

Taxi

In Jakarta, the only means of transportation to be used for travelling to the airport is taxi. Under normal traffic conditions, it takes about 50 minutes to get to the airport by taxi. If there is heavy traffic, this duration can exceed one and half an hour.

You can comfortably travel to the airport by renting a car from the offices of Avis, Eazyrent or Jakarta Car Rental companies located in the city center. Those who don’t want to struggle with the heavy traffic and complexity of Jakarta can get to the airport by renting a car with a driver.

Airport Information

There are four terminals at the airport which covers a very large area. Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are used for domestic flights, Terminal 2 is used for international flights, and Terminal 4 is used for cargo flights. It is possible to benefit from playground special to children, mosque, health service room and smoking room located in the terminals. In the terminals, there are free wireless internet service. You can use the branch of Citibank or HSBC, Mandiri and Maybank ATMs for your money transactions.

In the Terminal 3 at the airport, there is a separate area called Digital Cinema. On this area, there are many services for passengers such as personal cinema, game center, cafe and internet. In addition to these, there are private areas belonging to airline companies such as Blue Sky, Garuda, Esplanade, JW Sky, Pura Indah, Rasa and Emerald. If you are flying with one of these companies, you can benefit from these privileged services offered by these airline companies.

Furthermore, there are many services at the airport such cafes and restaurants where you can try different tastes or stores where you can spend enjoyable time while shopping. Bus

Buses are the most budget-friendly transportation option to the city center. Two main lines, A1 and A2, are the primary airport routes, running approximately every 30 minutes, with air-conditioned, spacious, and comfortable buses.

Minibus

Minibuses are less common alternatives to buses, as these are privately operated vehicles, and fares are typically lower than buses. However, they do not have a set schedule, availability can vary and can be crowded during peak hours. If you choose to use a minibus, it is advisable to confirm the destination with the driver before boarding.

Taxi

Taxis are the fastest options available, as transportation to the city center takes around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Make sure taxis are metered before your trip and if you seek alternatives ride-hailing services are available in Bahrain.
