Since bus is the only public transport you can use to get to the airport, it is not possible to get to the airport by public transport from the city center if your flight is at night.

You should learn in advance whether your hotel offers this service and make a reservation. With the hotel shuttle you will be picked up right in front of your hotel at the most convenient time and you will have a very comfortable means of transportation to reach the airport.

Cars that work as a taxi in Dakar are quite old, but they are often preferred for fast and cheap transportation. You should definitely negotiate a good deal about the fare beforehand with your driver. You can get information about an average rate from your hotel and ask there for a taxi call. So you do not have to worry about the amount you will pay. You can reach the airport from the city center in a half hour by taxi.

Airport Information

The airport in Dakar's northern district is named after Léopold Sédar Senghor, Senegal's first president. The public also refer to the airport as Dakar Yoff Airport, with the airport’s former name. International flights as well as charter flights and cargo flights are organized from the airport. Dakar Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport offers only basic services.

A new airport is being built as an alternative to the airport, which cannot satisfy its guests both in terms of capacity and facilities. There is no clear information on when the airport, whose construction started in 2007, will be opened.
