About Asiana Airlines
Launched in 1988, Asiana Airlines is the second-largest airline in South Korea, with its headquarters in Asiana Town and main hubs at Gimpo International Airport and Incheon International Airport. The airline serves over 90 destinations across Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania, and provides cargo transportation to 23 destinations in 11 countries. As a member of the Star Alliance, one of the world's leading airline alliances, Asiana Airlines has earned the prestigious Skytrax 5-star award for nine consecutive years for the quality of its flights.
Asiana Airlines has flight agreements with more than 30 major airlines, including Turkish Airlines, Air Canada, Nippon, Lufthansa, and Etihad Airways, offering passengers access to many additional cities. The airline's fleet consists of 80 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and it is the largest shareholder of Air Seoul, a low-cost carrier. Asiana Airlines Check-In Services
You can check in online for Asiana Airlines flights to save time and avoid airport waits. Online check-in is available via the airline's mobile app or website. For international flights, online check-in opens 48 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before departure (for flights to the United States, it opens 24 hours before departure). For South Korean domestic flights, online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes 30 minutes before departure.
Alternatively, you can check in at Asiana Airlines counters or self-service kiosks at the airport. Airport check-in remains open until 20 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 30-60 minutes before departure for international flights, depending on the destination.
Baggage Right and Charges
Asiana Airlines offers different baggage allowances depending on the ticket class. Economy Class passengers are allowed one piece of hand baggage, while Business Class and First Class passengers can bring two pieces of hand baggage into the cabin free of charge. Each piece of hand baggage must not exceed 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm in size and 10 kg in weight. Additionally, passengers traveling to the Americas are permitted one extra piece of baggage.
For checked baggage, Economy Class passengers are allowed two pieces, each weighing up to 23 kg. Business Class and First Class passengers are allowed two pieces, each weighing up to 32 kg. The maximum size for checked baggage, including handles and wheels, is 158 cm. Any baggage exceeding the weight or number limits is subject to additional charges per kilogram, depending on the destination, for flights to Asia (including Oceania), US routes (excluding Saipan), Europe, and Oceania.
Asiana Airlines Seat Selection
You can choose your seat during the check-in process, both online and at airport counters or kiosks. While checking in, you can view the seat plans and select your preferred seat, whether it's a window or aisle option. For long distances, you can opt for seats with extra legroom for an additional fee, depending on your ticket class and destination.
In Economy, Business, and First Class, seat selection is available starting 48 hours before the flight departure time. Special conditions apply for seats near emergency exit points.
Asiana Airlines Knee Space
Asiana Airlines' fleet includes various aircraft models with legroom ranging from 86 cm to 91 cm. Each seat is equipped with a 27 cm personal seatback screen and advanced entertainment systems, along with high inclination rates for added comfort.
During check-in, you can purchase wide legroom seats, which offer at least 16 cm more space than standard seats, for an additional fee. These knee-width seats are available at different locations on each aircraft and are priced between $40 and $190, depending on the route, including Japan, China, Northeast Asia, and US-Europe-Sydney routes.
Asiana Airlines Inflight Catering Services
Asiana Airlines offers a diverse culinary experience on both domestic and international flights, featuring regional cuisines and award-winning dishes from Korean and Italian cuisines. Meal menus, prepared with seasonal and fresh ingredients, vary depending on the ticket class and flight distance. First Class passengers can make early meal reservations by notifying the airline at least 24 hours before the flight.
For passengers with special dietary requirements, Asiana Airlines provides a variety of meal options, including children's menus, diet, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, seafood, Hindu, Kosher, Muslim, Jain, and Asian/Hindu vegetarian meals. These special meals must be requested at least 24 hours before the flight.
The airline also offers a carefully curated selection of wines from Spain, France, Chile, and South Africa, along with a range of alcoholic beverages such as exotic cocktails, whiskey, and vodka. Soft drinks, tea, and coffee are available depending on the ticket class and flight route.
