Chapel Bridge

Historic Chapel Bridge in Lucerne illuminated at night.

Chapel Bridge is a famous wooden bridge in Lucerne, Switzerland, spanning the Reuss River. It is renowned for the historic paintings that adorn its interior, depicting events from Lucerne's history. The nearby Water Tower is also part of this iconic landmark. The wooden bridge suffered a fire in 1993, which only spared the ends of the bridge and the Water Tower. Despite this, it appears to be over 600 years old. Some original paintings were preserved and displayed along the bridge, and other parts were rebuilt.

We recommend visiting both during the day and at night to enjoy the different, equally stunning views.
