Transportation to Nuremberg City Center from Airport

Nuremberg Airport

Nuremberg is a city in the southeastern region of Germany, in the German state of Bavaria. It is the second largest city in the state and is home to the second busiest airport in the state. Nuremberg is a historically important city, especially during World War II and the Nazi era. The city is served by the Nuremberg Airport, which is located 6 km from the city center.

Metro

The U-Bahn metro system operates 3 different lines throughout the city. Taking the metro to the city is very convenient. There is a metro station located in the airport that provides transportation to the city center. The U2 line departs from the Flughafen station and gets to the city center in about 12 minutes. The U2 line connects the airport with the Central Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof) and the historic old town (Altstadt). Trains run every 10 to 15 minutes. You can also access other lines and regional trains from the train station.

Bus

Taking the bus to the city center from Nuremberg Airport is another transportation alternative. There are 2 bus lines that operate during the day and one bus line that operates at night, providing transportation between the airport and the city. Bus lines 32 and 33 provide transportation from the airport to the neighboring areas of Höfles and Thon. If you take bus line 32 to Thon you can transfer to the tram and take the tram to downtown Nuremberg. The night bus N12 provides direct transportation to the Central Railway Station, located in the city center. Bus line N12 operates from 1:28 am to 4:28 am. Bus lines 32 and 33 operate between 5 am and 12:30 am.

Taxis

Since the airport is located in close proximity to the city center, taking a taxi is a great alternative. A taxi from the airport to the city takes about 15 minutes, when there is no traffic. Of course if there is traffic the total trip time can vary. Taxis are easily accessible at the terminal exits. A taxi to the city center costs around 20 Euros.

Rental Car

Renting a car is another way to get to the city from the airport. You can rent a car from the Rental Car Center or book a vehicle in advance online. You can also return your vehicle to the Rental Car Center at the airport before your departure, if you are flying out of Nuremberg. Rental car companies that you can choose from include Avis, Hertz, Europcar, and Sixt. The airport is conveniently connected to the city by the highway, so driving to Nuremberg is quite easy and enjoyable.
